This article in NYTimes is about an exhibition in MoMA regarding the design of kitchens and how they have evolved to be the way that today we are comfortable with. Even though I am intrigued to go and see this exhibition, what I found the most interesting in this article are the struggles of the designer Margarete Schütte-Lihotzky who developed the simplified and modernistic concepts of mass-produced Frankfurt kitchens. It’s very interesting to learn about a female designer in the 1930s, who is not prominent only because she was working in the field dominated by male designers. In addition, she has an interesting life, considering that she worked during the World War II and Civil War, which have certainly influenced her creations.
